South Korean soprano Seonwoo Lee is praised by critics for her "phenomenal control” (Opera Canada) and “a lyric soprano of extraordinary focus and clarity” (Opera News).
Seonwoo is currently member of Opernstudio der Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich) for the 2023/2024 season. Seonwoo received her Artist diploma from Royal College of Music as a proud recipient of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation - Community Jameel Scholarship, Masters from The Juilliard School in 2022, and her Bachelor degree with high distinction at Seoul National University in 2020. A versatile artist, Seonwoo offers a wide variety of repertoire from baroque through to contemporary, having given performances on stages throughout Europe, America, Canada and Asia. Seonwoo made her debut the roles “Le Feu” and “Le Rossignol” from Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortilèges, as well as “La Fata Azzurra” from Respighi’s La Bella dormente nel bosco successfully at the Royal College of Music in London, 2023. Her New York debut was in 2021 as “Proserpina” in Rossi’s L’Orfeo with conductor Avi Stein at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Other performance highlights include La Damoiselle élue at Alice Tully Hall with Maestra Barbara Hannigan, Lincoln Center’s “Restart Stages” as part of the Juilliard NOW series, “Verdi Opera Gala Concert” with Korean National Opera, and the prestigious “New Artist Concert” by Chosun Ilbo.
